A sequel with a lot to say.
In the framework of the twentieth anniversary of the release of the original, iconic film, The devil wears fashionthe long-awaited sequel arrives in theaters The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Without a doubt, we are facing one of the most anticipated sequels in recent yearsand one that we didn't think would be possible due to the busy schedules of its four original stars. However, the stars aligned to have him back on the big screen. Meryl Streep like the feared Miranda Priestly, and her entourage in cerulean blue, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunty Stanley Tuccireprising their roles as Andy Sachs, Emily Charlton and Nigel Kipling, respectively.
Behind-the-scenes talent includes the comebacks of David Frankel as director, and Aline Brosh McKenna as screenwriter, as well as producers Wendy Finerman, and Karen Rosenfelt.
And while the desire to see our beloved characters again is real, there is also the fear of spoiling a film classic. immortalized in pop culture. We already told you, fortunately this is not the case.
Similar to what happened in the first film, the highlights of The Devil Wears Prada 2son its interpreters, and its history. And boy does this story have a lot to say.
After Andy (Hathaway) loses his job at the same time he receives an award for his performance in it, he unexpectedly he is presented with the opportunity to return to Runway, much to the chagrin of her editor-in-chief, Mirandawhen the publication is embroiled in a serious public relations crisis.
It's really wonderful to see these characters, with whom we are already familiar, go through waves of crises, and face them with maturity. We are facing a group of characters that show a gratifying evolution for the audience. This without losing the essence of what catapulted the original 2006 film into cinema history. Miranda is exquisitely vulnerable and human, with a simply brilliant Meryl Streepon a clear path to extending his record as the most Oscar-nominated actor or actress, with his 22nd nomination; as Emily transforms her harshness into honesty, and Andy and Nigel reach great potential.
The four protagonists advance their characters to another level, compared to the first installment, evolving with great style.
Special mention for the new cast members: Simone Ashley as “the new Emily”, and Caleb Hearon as “the new Emily 2”, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, BJ Novaky the delicious cameo made by the versatile Lady Gagawhich Streep, Hathaway and Blunt have praised so much, will delight everyone and everyone. Gaga also composed and performed three original songs for the film's soundtrack.
As for the story, the plot explores a deeper layer of modern day journalismreflecting and taking a stab at its current destructive state, where many publications try to survive in the hands of corporations without vision, is ethical.
Miranda, at the head of Runway, like so many other publications, is dealing with the obstacles in the publishing sector, amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing. This is a topic that will resonate.in particular, with any professional who works in the area, such as a server.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 It stands out in differentiating itself from many other sequels, and does not resort to the easy trick. The story pays elegant homage to the original film and its greatness, while creating something new, something all its own.. Do you know how difficult it is for the sequel to a classic film to achieve something like that? And we add another detail: achieving it in modern times. It is an extremely script intelligent, moving, and meaningful in equal parts.

And it wouldn't be The devil wears fashion without one of the main characters: the glamor. The film has it all; fashion, looks, settings, enviable locations in New York and Milan, sequences that are a wink and reference to the original deliverymusic, and lots and lots of inspiration.
We don't know if this is the last time we see Miranda, Andy, Emily and Nigel. 20th Century Studios has the table set to go for a next film, and close a trilogy, if everyone involved was interested – certainly the audience is.
But if this were the farewellit's really a splendid, sublime, and generous conclusion, that invites reflection and improvement. This is a sequel that totally deserves to have been made.
