Movies May 29: The Drama, Honey Don't, Celestial Move

the drama (Kristoffer Borgli, 2026)

A couple prepares their wedding and, as the date approaches, the man (Robert Pattinson) has doubts and fear because he suspects his girlfriend's (Zendaya) unspeakable past. I don't know if it is because, due to these payments, we lack the possible traumas that the handling of weapons and shootings have caused in the United States, the fact is that I cannot tune into this story which, on the other hand, lacks substance and whose script is limited to stretching the situation and turning it around.

Heavenly Move (Aziz Ansari, 2025)

Quite a silly comedy with Keanu Reeves playing the angel who saves a poor Indian from an accident and puts him at the service of a rich man. But all the roles are disrupted so that the unpredictable motivates the viewer. (At times one thinks that the movie is sponsored by the DGT and its warnings not to use your cell phone while driving). More than dispensable.

My life with Amanda (Mikhaël Hers, 2018) (Filmin)

David helps his sister, a single mother, with the education of her 7-year-old daughter Amanda. He makes a living with more or less sporadic jobs and flirts with the tenant of an apartment he rents. Nothing gave him any indication that he would have to take care of the girl after a traumatic event; and that this would also bring surprises. A small film, at times predictable and elongated, but heartfelt, without emphasis or overdramatization, with the awareness that life is not programmed and, in the end, you do not live as you want but as you can.

Although the Coens are losing strength separately, as we have seen in recent years, their hooligan cinema is still very attractive, with torn humor, hyperbolic and ironic violence… and a background of types from provincial America that will delight anyone. Now this second installment of a trilogy that the youngest Coen has written with his wife and which is a continuation of Two girls on the run with a determined lesbian researcher who questions everything to emerge triumphant, given life and personality by Margaret Qualley. 90 brief minutes with a story that leaves no respite; I think it would improve with a few more minutes to close the story with the perverse reverend.
