Creamy passion fruit coconut dessert (brazilian cocada) is one of the most traditional, easy, and delicious Brazilian desserts.

Ingredients

  • 200 g shredded dried coconut

  • Pulp of 1 large passion fruit (160 g)

  • 1 can (395 g) sweetened condensed milk

  • 1 bottle (200 ml) coconut milk

  • 1/2 cup (100 g) sugar

Directions

  • Add the passion fruit pulp and sugar to a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture comes to a boil and reduces slightly.
  • Add the coconut milk, sweetened condensed milk, and shredded dried coconut. Stir well until everything is fully combined.
  • Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and begins to pull away from the bottom of the pan. Remove from the heat.
  • Spoon the creamy cocada into small dessert cups or bowls. If preferred, transfer it to a serving dish.
  • Serve at room temperature or chilled. Store in the refrigerator before serving and refrigerate any leftovers.
