Possession from writer-director Finn, is a remake of Polish filmmaker Andrzej Żuławski's 1981 horror classic.

The original film, starring Sam Neill and Isabelle Adjani, sets its plot in West Berlin during the Cold War, following Mark (Neill) a spy who returns home to his wife Anna (Adjani) and their son. All is not calm on the marital front when the wife files for divorce and the couple descends into a destructive cycle that not only includes infidelity and neglect, but violence, a tentacled alien creature, and doppelgangers.

Żuławski was inspired by his own divorce to make Possession.

Possession It was a co-production of Germany and France, and was not a big hit upon its theatrical release in 1981, however, it achieved cult film status over time.

There are no details about the characters that Dano and Calva will be playing, but we can deduce that Qualley will be Anna, and Turner will be Mark.

Robert Pattinson He is one of the producers of the remake, along with Finn, Jonathan Fass, Roy Lee and Andrew Childs. Marc Bienstock is the executive producer.

Finn produces with his company Bad Feeling, and Pattinson with his company Icki Eneo Arlo. Lee does it for Vertigo Entertainment.

Paramount joined the project after the theatrical release of Smile 2 (2024) by Finn, and after a bidding war by large and independent studios, and streamers, in the film industry, from which Paramount finally emerged as the winner of the bid.

A release date has not yet been set for the remake of Possession.
