We will have to wait a little longer for the return of the Dark Knight.
The sequel to Matt Reeves, The Batman Part IIhas been postponed once again by Warner Bros. and DC Studios.
According to information shared by Reeves, the film will now be released in theaters on February 28, 2028 all over the world.
That release date comes almost six years after the premiere of The Batman in March 2022. Reeves announced the new release date on Vimeo, accompanied by the first camera test images of the return of Robert Pattinson like Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Little is known about the plot of the sequel beyond the fact that, “will take audiences back to Gotham”, and? will have a winter setting.
Pattinson is accompanied by the returns of Jeffrey Wright like Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis like Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell like Oz Cobb/Penguin, Jayme Lawson like Mayor Bella Reál, and Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez.
Confirmed new additions include Scarlett Johansson (possibly as Gilda Dent), Sebastian Stan (possibly as Harvey Dent/Two-Face), Charles Dance (possibly as Christopher Dent), Sebastian Koch y Brian Tyree Henry.
Reeves directs the script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin. They both co-wrote the first installment.
Originally, the premiere of The Batman Part II It was scheduled for October 2, 2026, but WB pushed it back to October 1, 2027. The push to 2028 will give Reeves more time for post-production.
The Batman (2022) became a box office success, accumulate more than $770 million in the global box officeand earn the title as the third highest-grossing film in times of pandemic, after its premiere in March 2022.
