Jessica Chastain takes on double role in creepy 'Other Mommy' trailer

After the successful premiere of Obsession, Blumhouse y Universal Pictures They team up for their next horror project: Other Mommywhich has already released a first and shocking official trailer.

The one titled in our region as sinister motherstars the Oscar winner Jessica Chastainin her return to horror films, in which she plays a double role as Úrsula, the mother of a girl named Bela (Arabella Olivia Clark), and a kind of paranormal entity that has invaded their home and has adopted the appearance of Úrsula.

In the trailer, the entity—whom the daughter calls “Other Mom”—makes pasta for Bela, while having a brief and shocking conversation with the little girl, who quickly realizes that she is not talking to her real mother, but to the “Other Mom,” whom she reminds that she was not supposed to leave her room. When the kitchen fills with smoke and Úrsula's husband (Jay Duplass) enters the kitchen to see what happened, discovers the entity under the table, with its limbs shrunken like a spider, in an extremely effective jump scare.

Later, Bela explains to her mother that the “Other Mom” lives in her house and that she is kind, but the entity's intentions seem to indicate the opposite.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

“sinister mother is a terrifying journey into the dark world of a young girl, Bela, who forms a relationship with a sinister entity in her home that looks uncannily like her own mother.”

The film directed by Rob Savage (Host, The Boogeyman) is an adaptation of the novel Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman, published in 2025. The script was written by Nathan Elston (Succession).

The cast also includes Dichen Lachman (Severance), Arian Moayed (Succession), y Karen Allen (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny).

Chastain, winner of the Oscar for best actress for The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021), has starred in other horror projects such as Mama (2013), e IT: Chapter Two (2019).
