During his panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Prime Video shared the first official teaser trailer for Blade Runner 2099the live-action series that expands the universe Blade Runner to television.

The miniseries marks the return of the science fiction franchise nine years after the theatrical release of Blade Runner 2049sequel to the cult classic Blade Runner (1982) Ridley Scott.

Scott, by the way, is one of the executive producers of the series that has been conceived as a sequel to Blade Runner 2049 by Denis Villeneuve.

Starring the Oscar winner, Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) y Hunter Schaferthe breakout star of Euphoria, Blade Runner 2099 is a miniseries that takes place after the events of the original film Blade Runner and its sequel Blade Runner 2049. The latter continued Scott's story with the return of the original star Harrison Ford as the protagonist Rick Deckard and Ryan Gosling as the replicant blade runner named K.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT BLADE RUNNER 2099?

Its plot, as its title indicates, is set 50 years after Villeneuve's sequel.

In 2099Yeoh plays Olwen, a replicant facing the end of her life, while Schafer plays Cora, a human on the run from the Blade Runners.

In the trailer, we see Olwen and Cora team up in the war between replicants and humans. At the end of the teaser, Olwen tells Cora: “The old world fights eternally to return. The humans want what was taken from them. But now is our time.”

In addition to Yeoh and Schafer, regular cast members include Dimitri Abold (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), y Lewis Gribben (Somewhere Boy). In guest star roles we have Katelyn Rose Downey (The Nun II), Daniel Rigby (Renegade Nell), Johnny Harris (A Gentleman in Moscow), Amy Lenox (Only Child), Sheila Atim (The Woman King), y Matthew Needham (House of the Dragon).

Silka Luisa (Shining Girls) is the screenwriter, showrunner and executive producer.

In addition to Luisa and Scott, other executive producers are David W. Zucker and Clayton Krueger. Jonathan van Tulleken (Shogun, Dope Thief) is the director of the first two episodes.

Alcon Entertainment, Scott Free Productions and Amazon Studios are producing the television project.

The series was primarily filmed in the Czech Republic, at Barrandov Studios, with additional photography in Barcelona.

Blade Runner by Scott is an adaptation of the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?by Philip K. Dick, sets its plot in a dystopian Los Angeles in 2019, in which synthetic humans known as replicants are bioengineered by the powerful Tyrell Corporation to work in space colonies. When a fugitive group of advanced replicants escape back to Earth, a police officer reluctantly agrees to hunt them down. Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young and Edward James Olmos starred in the film.

Villeneuve's 2017 sequel, set in 2049, follows Gosling as a replicant blade racer, who uncovers a secret that threatens to destabilize society. Ford and Olmos reprized their roles from the original.

Prime Video premieres the miniseries November 25, 2026 all over the world.
