Megan Fox would be back for the sequel to the cult film Jennifer’s Body (2009), prepared by the director Karyn Kusama and the screenwriter Diablo Cody.
Fox would return as Jennifer, while the mystery regarding the return of Amanda Seyfried as Anita “Needy” Lesnicki, according to reports from Dread Central. Seyfried was excited about the development of the new installment in March 2025.
It is planned that the filming of Jennifer’s Body 2 kicks off in October in Vancouver, CA.
The plot of the original film, directed by Kusama and written by Cody, follows Jennifer (Fox) a newly possessed high school cheerleader who becomes a succubus who specializes in killing her male classmates, while Anita (Seyfried) tries to stop her. In our region it is known as Diabolical temptation.
Misunderstood by many upon its release in 2009, and without good performance at the box office or with critics, Jennifer’s Body has gone from strength to strength, reaching cult status among horror film fans, even managing to put into development the script for a sequel described as “fun and crazy” by Kusama.
In previous statements, the director said that Cody, “He's working on it right now, and I'm really excited to see what's going to come of it. I know some of the structure, so I'm not going to give anything away, but it sounds fun and crazy, just like the first movie. And I have no doubt that Diablo will do something absolutely amazing with it.”
Kusama said she was “very grateful that the film found its audience” with its current cult status.
The sequel could mark an important return for Fox, who has participated in few projects in recent years. The world famous actress for Transformerswas last seen in the sci-fi thriller Subservience (2024) from XYZ Films and in the comedy series Overcompensating from Prime Video.
