'The X-Files': Chris Carter says Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny will return for Ryan Coogler's reboot

The truth is still out there.

And if what was said by Chris Carter is real, a couple of doubts that fans of The X-Files They had about the reboot that is in development.

The reboot of the series is being carried out by the Oscar winner, Ryan Coogler (Sinners, Black Panther), and starring Danielle Deadwyler (Rooster, The Woman in the Yard) y Himesh Patel (The Odyssey), like two FBI agents.

But does the story take place in the same timeline as the original series, and will Deadwyler and Patel be new FBI agents or a reinterpretation of Mulder and Scully?

According to statements by Carter, creator of the original series The X-Filesto the Polygon medium, both Gillian Anderson as David Duchovny will reprise their roles as Scully and Mulder, respectively:

“At least Gillian, I think, will appear in the Coogler version. And I guess David will too, so you'll see Mulder and Scully there.”

This would also clarify where we would be placing the plot of the reboot, which would be located in the timeline of the original series.

Carter added on the above:

“I don't know. When I see it, I'll know, and so will the executives at Fox. They'll figure out if these things are going to compete or if they're going to complement each other.”

In addition, he revealed that he was interested in another installment:

“I would love to do another reboot or a new movie. My ideas for the future are ambitious. I don't know if it will be a TV series or a movie, but I have big plans.”

Coogler will write and executive produce the reboot, as well as direct the pilot, and have a co-creator credit alongside Carter.

The cast also includes Amy Madigan (Weapons), Ben Foster (Hell or High Water), Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire), Devery Jacobs (Reservation Dogs), Tantoo Cardinal (Killers of the Flower Moon), Lochlyn Munro (White Chicks), Joel D. Montgrad (True Detective), y Sofia Grace Clifton (All the Wrong Reasons).

The series synopsis details:

Jennifer Yale is the showrunner and executive producer. Other executive producers are Sev Ohanian, Deadwyler, Patel, Zinzi Coogler, and Simone Harris.

The X-Filesoriginally produced by 20th Century Fox Television, aired on Fox for nine seasons from 1993 to 2001. In 2016 and 2018 the network gave it a two-season revival.

Coogler is developing the reboot through his overall deal with Walt Disney Television.
