Paul Greengrass' 'The Uprising' Revealed as a Robin Hood Origin Film

The historical drama The Uprisingthe most recent film project of the writer and director Paul Greengrass (franchise Bourne, Captain Phillips, United 93), which stars Andrew Garfieldis not simply about a farmer who leads a mass rebellion against the British Crown.

Focus Features and Universal Pictures have officially revealed that It is a story about the origins of Robin Hood.and that the events of the film help inspire the legend of the bandit.

The film's official social media account published a new trailer with the slogan “Witness the rise of Robin Hood” and images of the protagonist Garfield – known only as Plowman –, a masked bandit who robs people on the roads armed with a bow and arrows.

Below is the updated synopsis of the film – provided by Focus -, which reinforces the link with the figure of Robin Hood:

“Andrew Garfield stars in the story as the leader of a fierce rebellion against the tyranny of King Richard II. Set in the true events of the insurrection that helped inspire the legend of Robin Hood, the plot follows how he forms a popular army to confront the might of the king in a fight for justice.”

It had previously been said that the film portrays real events of the Peasants' Revolt of 1381 in England.

The studios' announcement surprises everyone and everyone, as it occurs just a few weeks before the theatrical release, scheduled for September 10.
