To make your Mashed Potatoes, use the ingredients below and follow the instructions in the preparation method.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of potatoes (prefer mashed potatoes, such as asterix potatoes)

  • 1/2 cup of milk

  • 4 tablespoons of butter

  • Salt to taste

  • Ground black pepper to taste (optional)

Directions

  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into medium, even pieces.
This will ensure they cook evenly.
  • In a large pot, place the potatoes in enough cold water to cover them.
Add a pinch of salt to the water.
  • Place the pan over medium-high heat and let the potatoes cook until tender.
This should take about 15-20 minutes.
    To check if the potatoes are cooked, stick a fork in a piece;
if the fork penetrates easily, the potatoes are done.
  • Drain the cooked potatoes in a colander.
  • Then put the potatoes back in the empty pan over low heat.
This will help evaporate any remaining moisture.
  • Use a potato masher or ricer to mash the potatoes until smooth and free of lumps.
  • Add the butter to the mashed potatoes and mix well until it melts completely.
  • Heat the milk in a separate pan or in the microwave until hot but not boiling.
  • Add the hot milk to the mashed potatoes little by little, stirring continuously.
Keep adding milk until you reach the desired consistency.
If you prefer a creamier puree, add more milk.
  • Season with salt and ground black pepper to taste.
Mix well to incorporate the seasonings.
  • Serve the mashed potatoes hot with main dishes such as meat, chicken or fish.
