Make this simple cake using the ingredients below and following the baking instructions below.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of wheat flour

  • 1 ½ cup of sugar

  • 1 tablespoon powdered yeast

  • ½ teaspoon of salt

  • ½ cup melted butter

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a cake tin with butter or use parchment paper to line the bottom of the tin.
  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. 
    Make sure the dry ingredients are well combined.
  • In another bowl, combine melted butter, milk, eggs and vanilla extract (if using). 
    Beat well until you get a homogeneous mixture.
  • Pour the liquid mixture into the bowl of dry ingredients and mix everything gently until the dough is uniform. 
    Avoid beating too much, so as not to develop the gluten in the flour and make the cake heavy.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  • Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes in the pan before transferring it to a cooling rack.
  • After the cake is completely cooled, you can sprinkle icing sugar on top or add toppings and fillings of your choice.
