2 cups of wheat flour
1 3/4 cups of sugar
3/4 cup cocoa powder
2 tea spoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla essence
1 cup boiling water
1/2 cup unsalted butter
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
6 tablespoons of milk
3 cups sifted icing sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Unite a round shape of about 23 cm in diameter with butter and wheat flour. - In a large bowl, sift the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Mix well. - Add the milk, vegetable oil, eggs and vanilla essence to the dry mixture.
Beat at medium speed for about 2 minutes, until you get a homogeneous mass. - Reduce the mixer speed and add the boiling water.
Beat again on medium speed for another 1 minute, until the ingredients are well incorporated. - Pour the batter into the prepared tin and bake in the preheated oven for approximately 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
- While the cake bakes, prepare the frosting.
In a pan, melt the butter over low heat.
Add cocoa powder and milk, whisking constantly until well incorporated and hot. - Remove the pan from the heat and add the sifted icing sugar and vanilla essence.
Mix well until you get smooth, even coverage. - Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for a few minutes.
Then transfer it to a cooling rack and pour the frosting over the still warm cake. - Wait for the cake to cool completely before serving.
