Here is a classic Cod with Cream recipe:

Ingredients

  • 500g desalted and shredded codfish

  • 1 kg of potatoes

  • 2 medium onions, chopped

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 3 tablespoons of butter

  • 3 tablespoons wheat flour

  • 500ml of milk

  • 200ml cream (milk cream)

  • Salt to taste

  • Pepper to taste

  • Nutmeg to taste

  • Grated cheese (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Peel the potatoes, cut them into thick slices and cook in salted water until soft.
    Run and book.
  • In a large pan, heat the butter and sauté the onion and garlic until golden.
  • Add the shredded codfish to the pan and sauté for a few minutes.
    Reserve.
  • In another pan, prepare a white sauce: melt 2 tablespoons of butter, add the wheat flour and stir well.
Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
    Cook until the sauce thickens.
  • Season the white sauce with salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste.
  • Add the cream (milk cream) to the white sauce and mix well.
  • In a refractory, place a layer of boiled potatoes, followed by a layer of braised cod.
Repeat the layers until you run out of ingredients.
  • Pour the white sauce over the layers of potatoes and cod, making sure to cover completely.
  • If desired, sprinkle grated cheese on top of the dish.
  • Bake in preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
  • Remove from oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
