Ingredients

  • 4 egg whites at room temperature

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 1 teaspoon of white vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, washed and cut into slices

  • 1 tablespoon of sugar

  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 150°C.
  • In a bowl, mix the sliced ​​strawberries with the sugar and lemon juice. 
    Set aside for the strawberries to release juice.
  • Beat the egg whites until firm peaks form.
  • Gradually add the sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while continuing to beat the egg whites.
  • Continue beating until the meringue is shiny and firm.
  • Add the white vinegar and vanilla extract, and beat for a few more seconds to combine.
  • On a baking tray lined with baking paper, form a circle with the meringue, creating a nest in the center.
  • Lower the oven temperature to 120°C and bake the meringue for about 1 hour or until it is firm on the outside.
  • Turn off the oven and let the meringue cool completely in the oven.
  • Place the meringue on a serving plate.
  • Fill the center of the meringue with the macerated and drained strawberries.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy this delicious strawberry meringue!
