Two weeks until the theatrical release of the action thriller Monkey Manwhich marks the actor's directorial debut Dev Patelthe studio's marketing campaign Universal Pictures continues this day with the release of a second trailer.
The film sets its plot in Bombay, and follows Patel playing Kid, an impoverished young man who ekes out a living as an underground gorilla-masked wrestler. However, inspired by the mythical monkey god, he takes on Bombay's criminal elite with his wits and his fists. Kid will quickly learn that some windows don't break as easily as they do with Tom Cruise in the movies.
The most recent trailer available at the end of this note focuses on a furious Kid (Patel) in search of revenge.
In addition to directing and starring in the film, Patel co-wrote the script with Paul Angunawela y John Colle, con Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us, Nope) as a producer with his company Monkeypaw Productions.
Patel is joined in the cast, Sharlto Copley (District 9), Pitobash (Million Dollar Armn), Vipin Sharma (Paatal Lok), Sikandar Kher (Sense8), Sobhita Dhulipala (The Night Manager), Ashwini Kalsekar (Jodha Akbar), Adithi Kalkunte (Hotel Mumbai), y Makarand Deshpande (Dandupalya).
Patel became known to the mainstream audience with Slumdog Millionarie. Other of his outstanding interpretations are found in Lion, The Green Knight, y The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. We will soon be able to see him in the horror project Rabbit Trap.

The film, originally planned to be released on Netflix, moved to Universal after Peele had the opportunity to see it and acquired it as part of his agreement with Universal, which will be the distributor of the film, replacing Netflix, which had no plans to release it in cinemas.
Monkey Man will be released in theaters on April 5, 2024.
