The film whose plot takes us to know the origins and the reason for the arrival of the monsters to Earth, whom we saw for the first time in the 2018 film, is making noise at the box office. Its The opening box office gross was $53 million at the domestic box office (US, Canada), and another $45.5 million in the international market, for a global total of $98.5 million..

Day One debuted in second place at the US box office, as Inside Out 2 has been in first place for three weeks now. Even so, A Quiet Place: Day One managed to become the best premiere of the franchise at the domestic box officesurpassing the releases of A Quiet Place (2018, $50 million) and the sequel A Quiet Place Part II (2021, $48 mdd).

The record is no small feat, as spinoffs that aren't direct sequels and don't feature the original cast usually don't have a track record of doing well at the box office. This prequel features a new director (Michael Sarnoski (Pig) took Krasinski's place), a new setting (NY), and a new cast.

Sarnoski directs the script co-written with Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter, Mud, The Bikeriders), based on an original idea by Krasinski.

The plot takes place in New York City, and follows Sam (Lupita Nyong'o), a woman who while on a day trip in the city, must fight for her survival during the first terrifying moments of the alien invasion. While there, Sam meets a man named Eric (Joseph Quinn), with whom he agrees to sail and survive together in the city.

The rest of the main cast is made up of Alex Wolff (Hereditary, Pig, Old), Denis O’Hare (True Blood), y Djimon Hounsoureprising the role he played in the sequel A Quiet Place Part II.

The audience got their first glimpse of the beginning of the alien apocalypse during a flashback sequence in A Quiet Place Part II (2020), where the Abbott family had their first fight with alien invaders.

It is also during the events of Part IIin which the protagonists of said feature film, Regan Abbott (Millicent Simmonds), Evelyn (Emily Blunt) and Marcus (Noah Jupe), escape from the monsters and reach a remote island, where they discover a secret refuge with other survivors, including a man played by the aforementioned Hounsou.

Krasinski produces with his Sunday Night banner, with Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller producing with Platinum Dunes, and Allyson Seeger serving as executive producer.

Paramount plans to get the prequel spinoff off the ground A universe A Quiet Place which will lead to other future deliveries in the years to come.

A third film A Quiet Place centered on the Abbott family is developing in parallel, with Krasinski possibly resuming his writing duties, and with a theatrical release planned for 2025.
