We are in the week of the theatrical release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Versewhich in our market is called Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Versewhich is why Sony Pictures continues to pamper the audience by releasing more details about the sequel to the acclaimed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

The most recent addresses the issue of the number of Spider-People that we will see in Across the Spider-Verse, since, as you will be aware, the plot will focus on the new adventure of Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy in the multiverse, opening the possibilities of seeing many other spider-men. In an earlier trailer we witnessed the storyline open up to the entire spider verse, giving us glimpses of hundreds of different spider people battling each other and a larger, unseen threat.

But how many spiders could we see? In an interview with Collider, the directors Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers y Justin K. Thompson They gave the exact number:

“The exact number? Wow, we keep adding, until the end.”

“Honestly, I’m going to be honest with you, we just finished the movie, like in the last two weeks, and I don’t think I’ve had time to pause and do a final tally. But I think last time I looked it was around 280. Just to be clear, that doesn’t mean specific, unique characters you might recognize, it could also mean variations.. But if you’re just talking about named characters then I think there are probably around 95.”

Sony has set the theatrical release of Across the Spider-Verse for on June 2, 2023 (with a preview in Mexico and the rest of Latin America for June 1).

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

“Miles Morales returns for the next chapter in the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse. After meeting with Gwen Stacy, Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People tasked with protecting existence from him. But when the heroes clash over how to handle a new threat, Miles is up against the other spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero in order to save the people he loves most.

The direction is in charge of Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers y Justin K. Thompsonwith script of Phil Lord, Christopher Millery Dave Callaham.

The voices of the main cast in their original language are provided by Shameik Moore y Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Brian Tyree Henry, Daniel Kaluuya, Shea Whighamamong others.

• The sequel’s original release date was April 2022, though it had to be partly postponed due to the pandemic. This is the first part of two movies.
• They are final theatrical release is set for June 2, 2023. The third is officially titled Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Versewith a planned release on March 29, 2024.
