“Why are they so hungry to kill?” is the question posed by the new trailer for the miniseries American Primeval from Netflix, with a plot that takes place on the brutal American frontier of 1857, where only one objective matters: survival.

The Netflix original series is directed by Peter Berg (Painkiller, Deepwater Horizon, Lone Survivor, The Kingdom), con Mark L. Smith (The Revenant) as creator and screenwriter.

The drama promises to show how “pain is everywhere” y “innocence and tranquility are losing the battle to hatred and fear.”

The six episode miniseriesis described as a fictional dramatization and analysis of the violent collision between culture, religion and communityin which men and women fight and die to keep or claim the lands that make up the brutal American frontier. Among those men and women are several native tribes that have long occupied those lands: the Shoshone, the Paiute and the Ute.

The cast is led by Taylor Kitsch (Painkiller, Waco) y Betty Gilpin (GLOW, The Hunt) bringing characters to life during a raw and adventurous exploration of the birth of the American West, with Dane DeHaan, Saura Lightfoot-Leon, Derek Hinkey, Joe Tippett, Jai Courtney, Preston Mota, Shawnee Pourier y Shea Whigham.

Guest stars include Kim Coates, Lucas Neff, Kyle Davis, Tokala Black Elk, Nick Hargrove, Irene Bedard, Nanabah Grace, Alex Breaux, Dominic Bogart, Alex Fine, Kip Weeks, and Jerermiah Bitsui.

Of the violence portrayed in the miniseries, Native American Primeval consultant Julie O'Keefe previously said:

“After reading historical accounts of what happened to the natives of that time period, the violence in American Primeval is moderate.”

SYNOPSIS:

“Follows the beginning of the American West, the violent collisions of cults, religion, and men and women fighting for control of the new world.”

Another description says:

“This is America… 1857. Up is down, pain is everywhere, innocence and tranquility are losing the battle to hate and fear. Peace is the shrinking minority and very few possess grace; Even fewer know compassion. There is no safe haven in these brutal lands and only one goal matters: survival.”

Berg and Smith are executive producers alongside Eric Newman (Narcos) and Alex Gayner. Smith and Newman are the showrunners.
