Check out the preparation method used to make your rice with broccoli. Use the ingredients below and add whatever else you like.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of white rice

  • 4 cups of water

  • 1 head of broccoli

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped

  • Salt to taste

  • Pepper to taste (optional)

  • Grated cheese (optional, for sprinkling)

Directions

  • Wash the broccoli head well under running water.
  • Separate the florets into smaller sizes.
  • Peel and chop the thickest broccoli stalks.
  • In a large pan, add 4 cups of water and bring to a boil over high heat.
  • When the water is boiling, add the rice and a pinch of salt.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low and cook rice until water is absorbed and rice is tender. This should take around 15-20 minutes. Reserve.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
  • Add the broccoli stalks to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Then add the broccoli florets to the skillet and continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender but still crunchy.
  • Mix the cooked rice with the sautéed broccoli in the pan.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • If desired, sprinkle grated cheese on top before serving.
  • Serve hot as an accompaniment to other meals or as a main dish.
