BAFTA 2026 nominations: 'One Battle After Another' and 'Sinners' dominate with 14 and 13 nominations

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (British Academy Film Awards; BAFTA) revealed this morning from London, the complete list of the nominated for the 79th edition of the BAFTA Award.

Once again, Warner Bros. repeated its dominance in nominations – after doing so in the Oscars – with political satire One Battle After Another of Paul Thomas Anderson, leading with 14 nominationsincluding Best Picture, Best Director (PTA), Best Actress in a Leading Role (Chase Infiniti), Best Actor in a Leading Role (Leonardo DiCaprio), Best Supporting Actress (Teyana Taylor), Best Supporting Actor (Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, among others.

One Battle After Another came very close to tying the record of 16 nominations for Gandhi, the most nominated film in BAFTA history; with 14 nominations, the PTA film ties All Quiet on the Western Front, Atonement, The King’s Speechy Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Closely followed by the horror thriller Sinnersof Ryan Coogler and WB, with 13 nominationsa record for a black director in BAFTA history.

Hamnet of Chloe Zhaoy Marty Supreme of Josh Safdie They follow them with 11 nominations for each of them. With that, Hamnet becomes the most nominated film directed by a woman in BAFTA history; Zhao is also the only woman filmmaker nominated for best director in this edition.

Both Coogler and Safdie are nominated for best director for the first time.

One Battle After Another, Sinners, Hamnet, Marty Supreme y Sentimental Value are the films contending for Best Picture. By the way, Sentimental Value it was worth it to Stellan Skarsgård his first BAFTA nomination, the same case that occurred in the past 2026 Oscar nominations.

Frankenstein of Guillermo del Toro It received 8 nominations, however, it was left out of high-profile categories such as best film or director. Jacob Elord He is nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Besides, Wicked: For Good It received 2 nominations for Costumes and Makeup and Hairstyling, avoiding being left blank as in the Oscar nominations.

The winners of the BAFTA 2026 they will meet Sunday February 22 at the Royal Festival Hall in London, in a gala that will be presented by Alan Cumming.
