Netflix makes the return of Black Mirror.

The dystopian anthology series will have an eighth seasonwhich to the joy of the audience, is already in production. Filming began during the summer. At the moment, its release date has not been announced (via Netflix).

The British production, created and developed by Charlie Brookerpresents a series of episodes independent of each other and, with a totally different cast and plots, whose only common point is the power of new technologies to move the world.

The dystopian series released in 2011, takes advantage of its anthology format, and people's dependence on technology, to portray our collective discomfort with the modern world, exploring themes from paranoia to contemporary technology that leads to an unforgettable experience and, at times, a disturbing conclusion. Today, rather than portraying a terrifying possible future, it has an alarming similarity to our current world.

Earlier this year, Brooker told Variety that his series ā€œit will return and, hopefully, it will be more ā€œBlack Mirrorā€ than everā€.

Brooker is the writer and executive producer of the eighth season alongside Bisha K. Ali. Jessica Rhoades, Annabel Jones and Louise Sutton are also listed as executive producers, while Mark Kinsella is co-executive producer of the series, whose rights are managed by Banijay Rights.
