Ingredients
2 cups of wheat flour
1 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon powdered yeast
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil (such as canola oil or soybean oil)
1 cup of water
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Additional ingredients to taste, such as fruit, nuts, chocolate, or lemon zest (optional)
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a cake tin with oil or butter and sprinkle with flour to prevent the cake from sticking.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- In another bowl, combine water, vegetable oil, apple cider vinegar and vanilla extract (if using).
- Pour the liquid ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients and stir until you obtain a homogeneous dough.
If desired, add any additional ingredients of your choice, such as fruit, nuts or chocolate. - Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for a few minutes.
Then, unmold the cake and let it cool completely on a wire rack. - Once the cake is completely cold, you can decorate it to taste with icing, fresh fruit, icing sugar, or whatever you prefer.
