Paramount Skydance wants to take advantage of the last years of its contract with Taylor Sheridan.
This same week it was announced that Sheridan will leave the ranks of Paramount, to move with a new exclusive contract to NBCUniversal, starting in 2029. Paramount Skydance will keep him busy until then.
Sheridan's next project will be a live-action movie of Call of Dutywhich is already developing together with Peter Berg (Deepwater Horizon, Friday Night Lights).

Paramount and Activision will produce, along with Sheridan, Berg, and David Glasser of 101 Studios.

In film, Sheridan has written the screenplays for the acclaimed Sicario and its sequel Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Hell or High Waterfor which he received an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay, and wrote and directed the also acclaimed thriller Wind River.
Berg's other credits behind the lens include Lone Survivor, Patriots Day, Hancocky Battleship.
Plot details of the film have not yet been revealed. Call of Dutybut it is a popular video game saga first-person shooter set in the military environment.
The film will be designed to excite its huge global fan base, delivering the features gamers love about gaming, while also expands the franchise to entirely new audiences, through film and television.
Taking into account the filmography of both Sheridan and Berg, we believe that they are the correct candidates, with the ideal style, to take charge of the live-action adaptation of a franchise like Call of Duty.
The deal to produce a film was announced last September.
Paramount has achieved success adapting video games to film, turning Sonic the Hedgehog in a major film and streaming franchise. Video games have also inspired recent blockbusters like Super Mario Bros. y A Minecraft Movie.
Call of Duty It is backed by Activision, the video game publisher owned by Microsoft. It comprises over 30 major games released since the original video game's debut in 2003.
