Campinas loses to Al-Rayyan, but remains alive in the volleyball World Cup

This Thursday (18), Campinas was defeated by Al-Rayyan, from Qatar, by 3 sets to 0, in the partials 18/25, 29/31 and 20/25. The match, valid for the last round of the group stage of the men's volleyball Club World Cup, took place at Ginásio do Mangueirinho, in Belém, Pará. ➡️ See the highlights of the confrontation

Even with the defeat, Campinas advances to the championship semi-finals in second place in Group A. Al-Rayyan says goodbye to the World Cup, after achieving its first victory. In the next phase, the Brazilian team faces Perugia, from Italy.

How was the game?

The Qatari team started very well and the start of the game was balanced. However, Campinas did not find its footing in the first set, made important mistakes and saw Al-Rayyan, secure in the match, close the first half 25 to 18.

The second set was marked from start to finish by fierce streaks. Campinas increased its game volume, but was unable to maintain a sequence and was faced with a great performance from the opposing attackers. Thus, the partial ended only at 31 to 29, in a strong diagonal attack by the opposite Qatari team.

For the third set, Campinas, already qualified, returned with an alternative team. The partial started evenly, but Al-Rayyan had space in the middle and, without any fear, held the difference until the end. Thus, the Qatari team won the third part by 25 to 19 and closed the game in straight sets.
