Marvel Studios ended the year 2024 by sharing a TV SPOT of Captain America: Brave New Worldthe MCU Phase 5 project that will have two important presentations.
On the one hand, it will be the debut of Anthony Mackie as Captain America in theaters, following the events of the original Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldierand on the other hand, we will see for the first time Red Hulk, who is played by Harrison Ford.
Ford takes on the role of antihero Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross, previously played by William Hurt in the MCU. Hurt passed away in March 2022 from prostate cancer. Her last appearance in the MCU marked her Black Widow (2021).
Thunderbolt is often depicted as an enemy of the Hulk. General Ross is the father of Betty Ross, who in Brave New World is characterized by Liv Tylerresuming the role he gave life to in The Incredible Hulk (2008). This marks his first return in said role.
In the new TV SPOT (available below), we see Ford transforming into Red Hulk.
The rest of the cast includes Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick) like Falcon, Rosa Salazar (Alita: Battle Angel), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (Vikings: Valhalla), Shira Haas (Unorthodox), y Takehiro Hira (Shogun), y Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk) returning as Samuel Sterns.
In 2025, Marvel Studios will have three MCU Phase 5 film releases. Starting in February with Captain America: Brave New Worldfollowed by Thunderbolts in May, and finally closing with The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July.
Brave New World It will be the first solo installment of the Marvel cinematic universe in which another character assumes the protagonist role previously played by a different character. In this case, Sam Wilson (Mackie) assuming the role as Captain America after the departure of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America in Avengers: Endgame.
