In recent days, it was announced that Aubrey Plaza joined the ranks of the cast of the television series, Agatha: Coven of Chaosspinoff of WandaVision of Disney +, which will see the return of Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness in her own series.
Those familiar with Hahn’s body of work – a well-respected and beloved actress on the indie scene – witnessed much-deserved recognition from mainstream audiences, beginning with her appearance on WandaVision.
And it’s not just an audience favorite, but one of her colleague and co-star Plaza, who is excited by the opportunity to collaborate with Hahn again, albeit in more depth this time. This is what he shares to backstage.com:
“‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos‘—I haven’t talked about that yet. He is a fun character. I’ll just say, speaking of demonstrations…it’s all coming together for me with this part. Kathryn Hahn, she’s a friend of mine; I’ve known her for years. We shared a couple of screen moments in ‘Parks and Recreations’ 10 years ago, but I’ve never really gotten to work with her. She is one of the most amazing actresses working today. She is a friend of mine. She speaks my language. Being able to be on screen with her and be face to face with her is what motivates me. I think it’s cool that it’s Marvel and all, but I’m really interested in working with Kathryn Hahn..”
Plaza is one of the biggest names in the indie film and comedy scene, having gained recognition for her role as April Ludgate on the NBC sitcom, Parks & Recreation. Just this year, it had the premieres of multiple film and TV projects such as the drama thriller Emily the Criminalthe comedy Spin Me Roundthe action-comedy thriller Operation Fortune by Guy Ritchie, and the second season of the HBO Max hit, The White Lotus.
Coven of Chaos, will be the central focus of Phase 5 of the MCU, as the audience further explores the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with witchcraft. Plaza’s role has been described as “mysterious.”
Other confirmed cast members include Joe Locke (Heartstopper), in a leading male role –some believe that he will be characterizing a more adult version of Billy Maximoff–, since Emma Caulfield reprising her role as Dottie from WandaVision.
Coven of Chaos It will premiere on the streamer in 2023.
