Peacock y A24 They started the marketing campaign Crystal Lakethe long-awaited prequel series Friday the 13thwhat brand the return of the horror franchiseafter a seventeen-year absence (the 2009 reboot was the last film).
After years of a highly publicized legal battle over the rights to the IP, and uncertainty regarding its future, the franchise returns to the screen with this prequel series of Friday the 13thcon Brad Caleb Kane (IT: Welcome to Derry) as showrunner, creator, screenwriter and executive producer, along with Victor Miller –writer of the original film– as executive producer, in addition to Marc Toberoff, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian and Stuart Manashil.
The horror series is described as an “expanded prequel” to the original classicwhich will transport the audience to the beginning of it allexploring the origins of Camp Crystal Lake and Pamela Voorheesbut Sra. VoorheesJason's mother and the original killer in Friday the 13ththe movie that started it all in 1980.
Crystal Lake is starring Linda Cardellini (Dead to Me, The Curse of La Llorona) y Callum Vinson (God of War, Chucky, Long Bright River) as Mrs. Voorhees and Little Jason Vorhees, respectively. The plot takes place before the accident that turned Jason into the killer we all know and fear.
Ms. Voorhees' role is detailed as “a mother who gave up her singing career to raise a child with special needs and who takes a dark turn when she loses her little one.”

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
“Prequel to the saga Friday the 13ththis series follows Pam Voorhees, a single mother who has been unable to overcome her grief after the tragic drowning death of her sick young son, Jason, in the town lake almost a year earlier. When two strangers arrive at Pam's door looking into her past, a disturbing chain of events is set in motion that leaves the residents of Crystal Lake wondering: Who really is Pam Voorhees?”
In addition to Cardellini and Vinson, the cast includes William Catlett (Abigail), Devin Kessler (Godfather of Harlem), Cameron Scoggins (Nashville), Gwendolyn Sundstromcon Nick Cordileone (Warrior) como Crazy Ralph, Danielle Kotch (Director’s Cut) as Claudette and Phoenix Parnevik (Bel Air) like Barry, characters from the original film, Nancy Nagrant as Kay Christy, a relative of Steve Christy from the original installment, and Joy Suprano (Fleishman is in Trouble) as Rita.
Crazy Ralph appeared in the first two films. He is a long-time Crystal Lake resident who drunkenly rambles about the curse of Camp Crystal Lake; We met Barry in the 1980 film as a camp counselor at Crystal Lake and the first victim of Pamela (Betsy Palmer in the film). He was characterized by Willie Adams. His girlfriend, Claudette, also a camp counselor, was Pamela's second victim.
The series was announced in November 2022. Peacock ordered a full season for the series, with an option for a second season.
The first season, 8 episodesis directed by Michael Lennox (Derry Girls), Celine Held & Logan George (Caddo Lake) y Quyen Tran (The Pitt). Lennox directs the first episode with Maceo Bishop (The Watcher) as director of photography.
Crystal Lake will be broadcast on Peacock in the United States, with a premiere date scheduled for October 15, 2026. At the moment it has not been confirmed which platform will be in charge of its distribution in Mexico and the rest of Latin America.
