Director Justine Triet reacts to her Oscar nomination for 'Anatomy of a Fall' – Cine3.com

The director and co-writer of Anatomy of a Fall, Justine Triet, was nominated for the 2024 Oscar in the best director category. This is his first Academy Award nomination.

In a year full of notable projects directed by female filmmakers, Triet became the only director to be nominated in that category, with Greta Gerwig's work in Barbieor Celine Song's in Past Livesignored at least as directors.

Regarding his nomination, Triet told THR that it was something he could never have imagined:

“I cried… the first [nominación] It was scripted and I was very happy. But it was later, when I saw my editor's name, that I cried because it was so surprising. In reference to being chosen as a nominee by her fellow Academy member directors, Triet reveals:

“I have greatly admired most of these people since I was a child, and of course being involved in this story means a lot to me. It wasn't a dream because I couldn't imagine it.”.

In the best director category, Triet is accompanied by Yorgos Lanthimos (Poor Things), Christopher Nolan (Oppenheimer), Jonathan Glazer (The Zone of Interest), y Martin Scorsese (Killers of the Flower Moon).

The Oscar Academy has only nominated seven women in total in the best director category, and only three have won the golden statuette. The nominees have been Gerwig (for Lady Bird), Lina Wertmüller, Sofia Coppola, Kathryn Bigelow, Emerald Fennel, Chloe Zhao and Jane Campion, in 96 editions of the award.

“When we were in the writing process, we were sure that it would be a very, not small, but very independent and very 'whoa' movie, so of course it's a very big fairy tale for us and it gives me a lot of joy. confidence for the future.
