Disney confirms: 'Hocus Pocus 3' underway with the returns of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy

Disney has given official green light for development of Hocus Pocus 3three years after the studio first announced having launched a new sequel, in June 2023.

Furthermore, it is confirmed that the original trio, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker y Kathy Najimywill reprise their roles as the Sanderson sisters, the witches of Salem, in the third installment, according to reports from Deadline.

The news comes after the great streaming success of Hocus Pocus 2 in 2022, which reunited the protagonists 29 years after the release of the original film, Hocus Pocusby Kenny Ortega in 1993, and broke audience records on the Disney+ platform in its debut. Hocus Pocus 2 It skipped theaters and had an exclusive streaming premiere. The plans for Hocus Pocus 3 is to give it a traditional theatrical release.

Hocus Pocus (1993), continues to the trio of witches known as the Sanderson sisters (Midler, Parker, Najimy), who wake up – after 300 years – after a young teenager accidentally resurrects them while exploring an abandoned house with his sister and her friend. In December 2023, D'Angelo told EW that he was working on the new story of the Sanderson sisters, and the possibility of expanding the role played by Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso) the second movie.

“We're still in the story phase, we're still working on it. We've been working on some ideas, and it's been fun to dive back into that world and we have so many directions to go and so many new characters to explore. We've only scratched the surface of Hannah Waddingham's witch mother.”

In October 2025, Some Birchraised his hand at the possibility of repeating his role in Hocus Pocus 3stating: “Yes, I would like to know what idea you have about how Dani ended up. I am totally open to the idea”.

Midler, by the way, in the summer of 2024 asked Disney to “speed up” with the script for the third installment. For 2025, Midler had the opportunity to read a draft that he described as “bright”.
