A new record on Inch By Inch Records, the label for the Leipzig record shop and the distributor of the same name. The six-track EP by the Leipzig/Jena duo Eoism is a straight electro record that explores the genre in all its facets.
Eoism runs the Pulse Drift Recordings label, which, like the artists themselves, stands for a pure electro sound. And that puts you in good company at Inch By Inch. We fondly remember the Electro Banger releases from Vaust and Jotel California.
The classy electro sound of this EP is sometimes filled with a slight melancholy, which makes the release exciting and also gives it some home listening aspects (“Empty Bodies”; “Infinite Games”). I particularly liked the title track with its Japanese vibe and voice samples.
The track “Direct Drive” is probably the most classic electro track on the record, where Anthony Rother could easily dance through the screen at any moment. By the way, Gonzo Vocado once again had a hand in the video (please be sure to check out the video for Jotel California’s track “Airwavez”!). Great video art cinema if you ask me!
The eighth catalog number on Inch By Inch also lives up to the claim of being a label for timeless music. This music worked in the 80s, the 90s and still does today. And when you put the record on in 20 years, it will still be doing that. Yes, the genre may be well-told, but this is high-quality shit that will keep you tapping your foot or more. Or to put it in the words of the label operator Philipp: “Let the robots get up and do the electro boogie!”
The record will be released this Friday, November 24th, 2023 on Inch By Inch Records. The track “Direct Drive” premieres today at 1 p.m. on SoundCloud – and we’ll be right there!
