
The horror project Whistleof the director Corin Hardy (The Nun), already has distribution in the United States.
Independent Film Company (IFC) – before IFC Films – and Shudder acquired the distribution rights for the national market (USA) for a broad premiere in cinemas. The date of its launch will be released later. Black Bear is taking care of international sales, according to Deadline reports.
The main cast includes Dafne Keen (Logan, Deadpool & Wolverine), Sophie Nélisse (Yellowjackets, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged), Sky Yang (Rebel Moon), Percy Hynes White (My Old Ass), y Nick Frost (Skeleton Crew, Shaun of the Dead).
The media shared the first official view of the film, focused on Keen's character. The image is available at the end of the note.
The film is based on the short story of Owen Egerton (Mercy Black, Blood Fest, The Axe Murders of Villisca) being himself in charge of adapting the script for the feature film directed by Hardy.
“Whistle It tells how a group of high school students, maladaptive and unsuspecting, runs into a damn object: an ancient Aztec whistle of death. They soon discover that when touching the whistle and the terrifying sound he emits, they will invoke their future deaths to hunt them. As the death toll increases, friends investigate the origin of the mortal artifact in a desperate effort to stop the horrifying chain of events that have triggered. ”
The producers are David Gross and Jesse Shapira for not Trace Camping, and Macdara Kelleher for Wild Atlantic Pictures. John Friedberg is the executive producer.
The project is now in its postproduction waiting to obtain a release date.
Hardy explained about the project in a press release:
“Whistle It is made with the same emotional spirit and marginalized adolescent that is in my favorite gender films with which I grew up. I was attracted to the mysterious mythology that surrounds 'Death Whistle' and how it gave me the opportunity to create a variety of film, imaginative and terrifying deaths. This movie is made for the big screen, so I'm looking forward to the public with Independent Film Company and Shudder in cinemas! ”
