First look at Robert Eggers' 'Werwulf'

Focus Features The marketing campaign for the horror project officially started Werwulfthe most recent of Robert Eggers.

The studio shared the first promotional image accompanied by the slogan “A full moon is approaching…”, take a look at the end of the note (via NBC).

Werwulf this set in 13th century England and is described as a movie terror medievalwhich will revolve around the mythical monster.

SYNOPSIS WERWULF:

“In medieval England, a mysterious creature lurks in the fog, turning local legends into terrifying reality as the villagers face an ancient supernatural threat.”

It was previously explained that The script also includes dialogue faithful to the period and has translations and annotations for those unfamiliar with Old English.

The main cast includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nosferatu, 28 Years Later), Lily-Rose Depp (Nosferatu), Willem Dafoe (Nosferatu, The Lighthouse), Ralph Ineson (Frankenstein, The Witch), Bodhi Rae Breathnatch (Hamnet, Shelter), y Jack Morris (Desperate Journey).

Egger's conducting Werwulf with a script co-written by Eggers y Vision (The Northman). Both produce alongside Focus Features, Working Title's Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, and with Chris Columbus y Eleanor Columbus as executive producers. Focus produces and finances the project.

Jarin Blaschke is the director of photography, with Louise Ford like the editor. Both have partnered with Eggers in their respective areas on all of their feature films (The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman, Nosferatu y Werwulf).

Werwulf marks a new collaboration between Eggers and Focus Features, after Nosferatuwhich became the studio's second highest-grossing film in the United States box office, accumulating $90.5 million in 2024. After the overwhelming success of Obsession by Curry Barker, currently Focus's highest-grossing film, that position fell a few notches.

Focus Features co-produced The Lighthouse y The Northman. Both were distributed by Universal Pictures. The Witch For its part, it was distributed by A24 in the national market, and by Universal in the international market.

Focus is an independent film production company subsidiary of Universal Pictures, owned by Comcast.

The theatrical release of Werwulf is scheduled for December 25, 2026.
