Ingredients

  • 500g wheat flour (approximately, may vary slightly)

  • 1 package (10g) of dry yeast

  • 1 tablespoon of sugar

  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • 1 cup of warm milk

  • 3 tablespoons melted butter

  • 1 egg

Directions

  • In a small bowl, mix the yeast, sugar and warm milk. 
    Let it rest for 5-10 minutes, until foam forms on the surface.
  • In a large bowl, place the wheat flour and salt. 
    Make a hole in the center.
  • Add the activated yeast mixture, melted butter and egg to the well in the flour.
  • Mix everything gradually until it forms a dough.
  • Place the dough on a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, or until the dough is soft and elastic.
  • Place the dough back into the bowl, cover with a damp cloth and leave to rest in a warm place for approximately 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
  • Divide the dough into two parts and form two balls. 
    Place the balls on a floured baking sheet, cover again and let rest for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until it is golden on top and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  • Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
