'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga' Gets an R Rating

A few weeks before the expected theatrical release of Angry of George Millerone of the films that promises to become the most talked about of the year, we receive more information about this spinoff as a prequel to the acclaimed Mad Max: Fury Road.

Most recently, the Motion Picture Association (MPA) awarded Furiosa an R Rating for:

“Sequences of strong violence and horrifying images.”

The film will celebrate its world premiere on Wednesday, May 15 at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, during an Out of Competition gala on the second day of the prestigious festival. His Release in theaters around the world is set for May 24, 2024.

In the most recent installment, Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch, The Queen’s Gambit, The Northman) takes on the role of Furiosarole played by Charlize Theron in Fury Road. Taylor-Joy's version as Furiosa has been described as “her genesis.”

Previously, Miller explained that this is the saga of Furiosa, and how she was taken from her home as a child, and spends the rest of her life trying to get back. Miller said that this tape “It's a different animal. It has many different locations. It's an odyssey. No doubt.”

And adds: “Fury Road essentially happened over three days and two nights, [Furiosa] It takes place over many years.”

The rest of the cast is made up Chris Hemsworth (Thor: Love and Thunder) as the antagonistic Warlord Dementus, Tom Burke (The Wonder, Living), Nathan Jones (Mad Max: Fury Road, Spiderhead), Angus Sampson (Mad Max: Fury Road, Next Goal Wins), y Daniel Webber (Escape from Pretoria, The Punisher).

SYNOPSIS:

“Angry, [es] the action-adventure solo film that acts as an origin story for the powerful character first played by Charlize Theron in Miller's 2015 Oscar-winning film.”

As the world falls, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by Warlord Dementus. Navigating the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. As the two Tyrants fight for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she gathers the means to find her way home.

Miller directs the script co-written with Nico Lathourisco-writer of Fury Road. Miller also produces the project alongside Doug Mitchell and their company, Kennedy Miller Mitchell.

Filming took place in 2022 in the state of New South Wales, Australia, where it became the biggest film ever made in Australia. The production injected at least $350 million Australian dollars (AUD) into the local economy, and created 850 new jobs.

To the saga Mad Max It started in 1979, with the film starring Mel Gibson.
