A famous kaiju makes its arrival in a new trailer of Godzilla Minus Zero of That one.
The sequel features the return of Takashi Yamazaki as director, screenwriter and VFX supervisor; The filmmaker won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects for Godzilla Minus Onemarking the first time that a Godzilla film received both an Academy Award nomination and the first win.
The trailer begins by confirming that Godzilla was not completely destroyed and offers a first look at a new kaiju extermination operation, along with a mix of new and returning characters, and the imminent arrival of King Ghidora, who we do not see, but we can hear loud and loud.
The preview also warns that “there are no third parties. It all ends here.”
This is the first Japanese production filmed for IMAX. The filming was carried out entirely in Japan, under the “Filmed For IMAX” certification, with digital cameras certified by IMAX for high definition capture, with sound and image calibrated specifically for the format's theaters. The plot picks up in 1949, two years after the turbulent events of Godzilla Minus Onecontinuing the story of the Shikishima family as they face a new calamity. The new installment shows Kōichi Shikishima (Ryunosuke Kamiki) and his now wife, Noriko (Minami Hamabe), facing off against a returning Godzilla, this time with an even more menacing presence than before, in both Japan and New York City.
Along with them, other members making their comeback include Yuki Yamada, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Sakura Ando y Miou Tanaka, with the introduction of a new key character: Kanji Murakami (My Tanaka), a biologist with deep psychological scars from the war.
Married Masami, Kunimura Jun, Maehara Ko, Kenji Misuhashi, Okuno Eita e Inowaki Kai complete the new additions to the cast.
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
“The war reduced Japan to nothing, and Godzilla plunged it into ruin. Two years have passed since then, and the country has waged a titanic struggle to recover and finally resume its daily life. Just when humanity managed to cling to a hard-won peace, a new threat attacks, crushing hope in an instant. There is no third chance. It all ends here”.
Godzilla Minus Zero will celebrate its world premiere on September 26 as the featured film of the Spotlight Gala at the 64th New York Film Festival (NYFF). The film will premiere in Japan on November 3 — where it will also be the centerpiece of the Tokyo International Film Festival gala — followed by a wide-scale release in the United States and Latin America on November 6.
