Ingredients

  • 500g ground meat (can be beef, pork or a mix)

  • 1/2 chopped onion

  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs or breadcrumbs

  • 2 tablespoons of milk

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Seasonings to taste (such as chopped parsley, oregano, paprika, etc.)

  • Ham slices

  • Cheese slices (e.g. mozzarella cheese)

  • Cooked carrot (optional)

  • Cooked spinach (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, bread crumbs (or breadcrumbs), milk and seasonings of your choice. 
    Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Mix all the ingredients until they are well incorporated and the meat mixture is homogeneous.
  • Roll out the meat mixture on a clean surface or a sheet of aluminum foil into a rectangle, forming an even layer.
  • If desired, add slices of ham, cheese and other toppings, such as carrots or spinach, over the meat.
  • Carefully roll the meat over the filling, forming a roulade. 
    Use aluminum foil (or parchment paper) to help wrap the meat tightly.
  • Place the meat roulade on a greased baking tray or lined with aluminum foil.
  • Place in the preheated oven and bake for around 30 to 40 minutes, or until the meat is cooked on the inside and golden on the outside.
  • Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes before cutting into slices and serving.
  • Serve the beef roulade with a sauce of your choice, such as tomato sauce, gravy, or a sauce of your choice.
