Harvey Weinstein presses so that his trial is advanced

Farber, to advance the date, citing as reasons their health conditions, saying: “I will not be there for April.”

Sitting in a wheelchair in the court, Weinstein made a rare petition to the Court, for a trial that already has his start date scheduled, raising his voice and pressing Judge Farber to advance the date, saying (via THR):

“I ask and I beg your honor to go on your judgment. I can't endure anymore. I'm enduring because I want justice for me.”

Weinstein described Rikers Island conditions as a “hell”:

“I am in a serious emergency situation, I beg you to change your date. I need to get out of this hell as quickly as possible.”

“There are so many people suffering in Rikers Island. Many of the people with whom I am in prison are going through similar problems. They don't have the same spokesmen as me, ”Weinstein continued. “It is still a stain in this city.”

For those who are not aware, we remind you that Weinstein has been diagnosed with leukemia, in addition to other ailments, and has been hospitalized several times in recent months.

Regarding the negotiation of the trial date change, Farber said he already had another trial, but that he would see how he progressed

In addition, the judge Farber rejected the motion of Weinstein's lawyer to dismiss the new accusation against himwhich included a position of first degree criminal act for practicing oral sex by force to a complainant witness in 2006.

In September 2024, Weinstein was prosecuted for the position of a first -degree criminal sexual act, which was derived from a recent accusation issued by a large jury. He declared himself innocent of the position, which entails a penalty of up to 25 years in prison.

Weinstein also faces a new trial for charges related to his rape for violation in 2020 in New York, which was revoked in April. In total, Weinstein has been accused under two formal accusations for three sexual crimes.

In October of the same year, Judge Farber accepted the defense motion to consolidate the new accusation against Weinstein with the previous position so that he could face a single trial for the three positions. This is the trial dated April 15, 2025.
