HBO confirms that 'Euphoria' says goodbye with the end of season 3

HBO's popular original teen series, Euphoriaofficially came to an end, after seven years, three seasons and 26 episodes.

After a four-year hiatus between the second and third seasons, Euphoria returned to the screen last April, airing its final episode on Sunday, May 31. Yes, the series reached its final conclusion.

Although the news is not really a surprise, the creator, screenwriter and director, Sam Levinson, kept its audience in suspense, playing with the idea of ​​a possible fourth season during the broadcast of the third season between the months of April and May, however, immediately after airing the episode on Sunday, May 31, titled “In God We Trust”, Levinson confirmed that Euphoria is officially over (via New York Times Popcast).

Euphoria followed “a group of high school students as they grapple with drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship.” In the third season, after a five-year time jump, “they face the virtue of faith, the possibility of redemption and the problem of evil.”

The main cast included Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elord, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie Maude Apatow, Colman Domingo, Chloe Cherry, Dominic Fike, Nika King, Martha Kelly, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Toby Wallace, Storm Reid, Barbie Ferreira, Austin Abrams, Javon Walton, Angus Cloud y Eric Dane.

In the four years between the second and third seasons, both Zendaya and several of her co-stars became industry stars with work schedules full of projects. For that, and other reasons, the vast majority thought that there would be no more Euphoria after a third season.

The unusually long four-year hiatus, on the other hand, was due to several factors, including the cast's calendar alignment, the 2023 Hollywood union strikes, and Levinson's commitments to his canceled HBO series. The Idol.
