Homemade bread made with this recipe will have a traditional loaf of bread appearance, with a golden crust and a soft, fluffy texture on the inside. Size and shape may vary depending on how you shape the dough before baking. By making shallow cuts on the top of the bread before baking, you can also get a decorative pattern.

Ingredients
500g wheat flour
10g of salt
10g of sugar
7g dry yeast (or 15g fresh yeast)
300ml of warm water
2 tablespoons olive oil (optional)
Directions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt and sugar.
- In a cup, dissolve yeast in warm water.
If using fresh yeast, crumble it into warm water and stir until dissolved. - Pour the yeast mixture into the bowl with the flour.
Add olive oil if desired. - Mix well until the dough begins to form.
- Transfer the dough to a clean, lightly floured surface.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes, or until it is soft, elastic and smooth.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a damp cloth.
Let rest in a warm place for approximately 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size. - After resting, remove the dough from the bowl and place it back on the floured surface.
- Knead lightly to remove air from the dough.
- Shape the dough into a loaf shape and place it on a greased baking sheet.
- Cover the baking sheet with a damp cloth and let the dough rest again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- After the second rest, make a few shallow cuts in the top of the bread with a sharp knife.
- Place the bread in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until it is golden brown and makes a hollow sound when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
