The filming of The Exorcist will begin in March 2026 in New York.
The companies describe it as ““a radical new vision” from the horror franchise.

Flanagan has made horror films received by critics and audiences such as Oculus (2013), Hush (2016), Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016), and the Stephen King adaptations, Gerald’s Game (2017), y Doctor Sleep (2019), and the one released this year, The Life of Chuck.
On the small screen he has been the creator and director of series such as The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, The Midnight Cluby The Fall of the House of Usher.
The project will be produced by Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, Morgan Creek Entertainment and Flanagan, with Universal Pictures as in charge of bringing it to theaters around the world.
David Robinson is another of the producers along with Jason Blum. Alexandra Magistro will executive produce for Flanagan's Red Room Pictures, and Ryan Turek for Blumhouse-Atomic Monster.
