Apple TV+ has already revealed the first full trailer for the limited series Presumed Innocentcon Jake Gyllenhaal in a leading role and as executive producer.

In the legal procedural genre series, Gyllenhaal plays Rusty Sabich, a Chicago prosecutor who becomes the prime murder suspect.


“It tells the story of a horrible murder that upsets the Chicago District Attorney's Office when one of their own is suspected of the crime.”

And in case the plot seems familiar to you, we tell you that Presumed Innocent is inspired by the 1990 judicial thriller by Alan J. Pakula and Scott Turow, that good film starring Harrison Ford, who in our market is better known as Presumed innocent, same title adopted for the series.

Reimagined by David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, The Lincoln Lawyer, Love & Death), who is a lawyer by profession, the series Presumed innocent will explore obsession, sex, politics and the power and limits of love as the accused fights to keep his family and marriage together.

In addition to Gyllenhaal, the main cast includes Ruth Negga (Loving, Good Grief), Bill Camp (American Rust, Joker), Elizabeth Marvel (Love & Death, The Dropout), OT Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale), Lily Rabe (American Horror Story), y Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World).

Kelley is the writer, executive producer and showrunner of the limited series, with Abrams and Rachel Rusch Rich executive producing Bad Robot. Matthew Tinker, Gyllenhaal, Dustin Thomason and Shar White are other executive producers.

Anne Sewitsky (A Very British Scandal, Castle Rock, Monsterland) directs and executive produces the first two episodes. Greg Yaitanes (House of the Dragon, Castle Rock) is another of the directors.

The series of David E. KelleyBad Robot Day J.J. Abrams y Warner Bros. TV will premiere on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 on Apple TV+, a few days after its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival on June 9. It was originally scheduled to launch on June 14, but the streamer moved up its debut a couple of days.
