A24 y Apple TV+ they released the first official trailer of the drama Causewayfrom the filmmaker Purple Neugebauerand with Jennifer Lawrence in a leading role.
The story revolves around an American soldier who suffers a traumatic brain injury in Afghanistan. Back home, he will have to struggle to adapt to life. It’s a slow and painful recovery as he relearns how to walk and retrains his memory, with the help of a talkative but loving caretaker. But when she returns home to New Orleans, she has to face even more painful and formative memories than the ones she had in the service: a reckoning with her childhood. Staying with her mother, with whom she shares a strained relationship, all Lynsey wants is to return to her job as an engineer. Her doctor mistrusts her and meanwhile she gets a job cleaning pools.
The sneak peek, available at the bottom of the note, contains many intimate, silent and quiet shot moments, offering first glimpses of Lawrence’s characters, and co-star, Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta, Godzila vs Kong) who seek mutual support due to their emotional damage.
Linda Emond, Stephen McKinley Hendersony Jayne Houdyshell they complete the cast.

“Causeway is an intimate portrait of a soldier struggling to adjust to life after returning home to New Orleans. Lynsey, an American soldier, suffers a traumatic brain injury during her tour of Afghanistan that forces her to return home. She struggles to get back to her daily life with her mother as she awaits her eventual deployment.”
The film, announced by A24 in 2019, marks Neugebauer’s debut as a feature film director. The director is an acclaimed theater director on and off Broadway who, in recent years, has directed episodes of series such as Room 104, Maidy The Sex Lives of College Girls.
Neugebauer directs from the script written by Ottessa Moshfegh, Luke Goebely Elizabeth Sanders.
Causeway It is the second film in which we will see Lawrence after the sabbatical time he took from acting in 2017 after the premiere of the action thriller and spies, Red Sparrowand the conclusion of the filming of X-Men: Dark Phoenix. His return to acting marked him Don’t Look Up (2021) by Adam McKay.
Lawrence and Justine Polsky are producing the film, with Neugebauer, Joshua Bachove, Kirk Michael Fellows, Jacob Jaffke, Sophia Lin, and Christopher Surgent serving as executive producers.
Causeway marks the latest collaboration between production company IAC Films and A24. Together they have produced acclaimed titles such as Eighth Grade, Mid90s, Lady Bird, Ex Machina, Uncut Gems, First Cow, y Macbeth.
Causeway will be released in theaters in the United States, and on the Apple TV+ streamer worldwide, on November 4, 2022.
