Blumhouse y Universal Pictures team up again for their next horror film project, after the overwhelming success of Obsession.
The studios have the launch of Other Mommystarring the Oscar winner Jessica Chastain in double role on his return to terrorafter having tried his luck in the genre with Mama (2013) e IT: Chapter Two (2019). The actress won the Oscar for best actress for The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021).
The plot of the film titled in our region as sinister motherfollows Chastain in a dual role as Ursula, who is the mother of a girl named Bela (Arabella Olivia Clark), and also as a kind of paranormal entity that has invaded her home and has adopted the appearance of Úrsula, whom the little girl calls “Other mom.”
The Fandango media shared a new official look focused on a bloody Ursula comforting her little daughter.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
“Sinister Mother is a terrifying journey into the dark world of a young girl, Bela, who forms a relationship with a sinister entity in her home that looks uncannily like her own mother.”
The film directed by Rob Savage (Host, The Boogeyman) is an adaptation of the novel Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman, published in 2025. The script was written by Nathan Elston (Succession).
The cast also includes Jay Duplass (Dying for Sex), Dichen Lachman (Severance), Arian Moayed (Succession), y Karen Allen (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny).
James Wan is the producer of Other Mommy. Executive producers are Macdara Kelleher, Judson Scott, Michael Clear, Ryan Lewis, Josh Malerman, and Rob Savage.
Universal Pictures releases sinister mother in theaters on October 9.
