The franchise Jurassic World Universal Pictures is currently filming a new installment that began last January and has been conceived as a reboot.
The project will mark “a new Jurassic era,” with a completely new story.
This reboot is led by Gareth Edwards (The Creator, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Godzilla), from the script of David Kopp (Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park: The Lost World).
The main cast is made up of Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Endgame), Jonathan Bailey (The Travelers, Bridgerton), the Mexican Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), Rupert Friend (Asteroid City, Obi-Wan Kenobi), y Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Leave the World Behind).
Philippine Select (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF) y Ed Skrein (Deadpool), Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty) y Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs. Lopez) make up the rest of the cast.
Through a teaser, Universal Pictures welcomed us to a new era by revealing the official title of the reboot, Jurassic World Rebirthin addition to presenting First Looks at Johansson, Bailey and Ali.
Jurassic World Rebirth It takes place five years after the events of Jurassic World: Dominion (2022).
Here is the new official description shared by Universal Pictures (via Variety):
“The planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs.”
“Those that remain live in isolated equatorial environments with climates similar to those in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a medicine that will bring miraculous benefits that will save the lives of humanity..”
“Scarlett Johansson stars as Zora Bennett and leads a team searching for genetic material from three giant dinosaurs. When the operation crosses paths with a civilian family whose boating expedition was wrecked by marauding aquatic dinosaurs, they become stranded on an island where they come face to face with a sinister and shocking discovery that has been hidden from the world for decades.”
Ali plays Zora's companion, Duncan Kincaid; Bailey plays a paleontologist named Dr. Henry Loomis; and Friend plays Martin Krebs, the representative of the pharmaceutical conglomerate that is financing the expedition. García-Rulfo plays Reuben Delgado, the father of the shipwrecked family, which includes Blaise, Iacono and Miranda.

It was previously shared that this new era does not feature the return of cast members from Jurassic World y Jurassic Park:
“The new film will be a completely new take on the Jurassic era and Jurassic World cast members Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, as well as original trilogy actors Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill, are not expected to return.”
Frank Marshallthe veteran and celebrated producer who oversaw the trilogy of Jurassic Worldreturns to produce, as does another veteran of the saga, Patrick Crowley. Steven Spielberg will be executive producer through his company Amblin Entertainment. Leitch and Kelly McCormick will also be producers.
The Jurassic franchise is a critical IP for Universal Pictures. Spielberg's original 1993 film redefined the meaning of visual effects and became a pop culture icon. The saga spans six films, made over three decades. The global box office has surpassed $6 billion.
Universal Pictures has set the theatrical release of the reboot of Jurassic World for the Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
