Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes of Wes Ball (Maze Runner), a new installment of one of 20th Century Studios' iconic franchises, Planet of the Apescontinues with firm steps on the billboard.
After having completed nineteen days of exhibition in cinemas around the world, it is recorded that Planet of the Apes: New Kingdom exceeded $300 million dollars in the global box office. With $127 million from the domestic box office (USA), and $175.2 million from the international box office, for a global total of $302.3 million.
The film's budget was $160 million.
This is very good news for 20th Century Studios and cinema in general, as the summer movie season has been seeing weak and disappointing entries. Even so, box office income so far in 2024 is well below income for this same date in 2023.
Planet of the Apes: New Kingdom es a continuation of the acclaimed Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, y War for the Planet of the Apes.
It is the starting engine of a new trilogy, which places its plot 300 years after the events of War for the Planet of the Apes.
The plot follows a group of young apes who question the authoritarian rule of the ape who has taken Caesar's (Andy Serkis) place. Along their journey, the apes bond with a young human girl.
Owen Teague (IT), Freya Allan (The Witcher), Dixie Lachman (Severance, Animal Kingdom), William H. Macy (Shameless, Fargo, The Dropout), y Kevin Durand (Abigail, Locke & Key) make up the main cast.
SYNOPSIS:
“Many years after Caesar's reign, a young ape embarks on a journey that will lead him to question everything he has been taught about the past and make decisions that will define the future for both apes and humans.”
The film's script was written by Patrick Aison (Prey, Wayward Pines), Josh Friedman (Foundation, Snowpiercer, Avatar: The Way of Water, War of the Worlds), Rick Jaffa (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), y Amanda Silver (Avatar: The Way of Water, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes).
