Prime Video debuted the official trailer of Ballardthe most recent police drama spinoff Boschthe television universe created by the American writer of gender novels, Michael Connelly.
Starring Maggie Q In the main and veteran role of Bosch, Titus Welliverresuming his role as Harry Bosch, the spinoff set in the current angels, follows the detective Renée Ballard (Q), while he is entrusted to direct the newly formed division of unresolved cases of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), with a very insufficient financing.
Facing the most persistent and unresolved crimes of the city, from the disturbing track of a serial killer to the mystery surrounding a victim of unidentified murder, Ballard is determined to provide a long expected justice to the victims and their families. But as you investigate more thoroughly, your cases begin to reveal a much more insidious threat: a dangerous conspiracy within LAPD itself.
Prime video describes Renée Ballard as “A researcher known for her determination, empathy and ability to discover conspiracies.”
The secondary cast includes John Carroll Lynch, Courtney Taylor, Michael Mosley, Rebecca Field, Victoria Morole, Amy Hill, Ricardo Chavira, Noah Bean, Alain Uy y Hector Hugo.
The trailer does not waste time to present Ballard's challenges. An exdetective of homicides and robberies reallocated to direct the new and definanced unit of unsolved cases of the LAPD, who must deal with institutional apathy, public pressure and dangerous truths that are hidden in the depths of the department.
Ballard will form a team with Thomas Laffont (Lynch), an experienced policeman whose patience and principles are not always aligned with the tireless thrust of Ballard. But, of course, the star meeting is Ballard and Bosch. Although Harry is retired, he hasn't left.
Connelly personally chose Q for the leading role, as at the time he did with Welliver and Bosch. Connelly told La Times: “I've seen the 10 episodes. Maggie is great. He has that challenging air that works very well when he faces the sexism of the department. He doesn't go back.”
The executive producers are Connelly, Henrik Bastin, Michael Alaimo, Kendall Sherwood, Trish Hoffman, Jet Wilkinson, and Melissa Aouate, with Jasmine Russ as a producer.
Mitzi RobertsDetective in the real life of LAPD and inspiration for the creation of the character Renée Ballard, is the scriptwriter and executive producer.
The first 10 episodes season will debut worldwide on Wednesday, July 9exclusively in Prime Video.
