The most recent installment of the franchise Magic Miketitled Magic Mike’s Last Dancewants to say goodbye to its star with hype and cymbal: Channing Tatumwho is back as Mike Lane, a character loosely based on the actor’s own experience as a stripper in Florida.

If we believe the film’s marketing, the third film will mark Tatum’s farewell to one of his most recognizable characters, and both he and Steven Soderberghwho returns to directing after directing the first film and not returning for the second, wants to give audiences a fantastic experience that takes us back to the roots of the franchise: dancing.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Soderbergh explains:

We wanted to blow up the dance in a big way. We have this dance number with Channing and Salma Hayek in front. And then the last 30+ minutes of the movie is just this giant dance sequence”.

“My job is, how do I make each of these different? I can’t film them all the same way, I have to come up with a different approach to each dance. And that was really the challenge.”

“We are doing all the sequences in this lovely old theatre, the Clapham Grand. That was fun, there’s not a bad angle in that place…”

In addition to the interview, Empire released a new image of Tatum and Hayek:

Reid Caroline wrote the script (he is the screenwriter of the three installments). Gregory Jacobsdirector of Magic Mike XXLproduces the feature along with Carolin, Nick Wechsler and Peter Kiernan.

In addition to Tatum and Hayek, the cast completes it Gavin Spokes, Caitlin Gerard, Christopher Bencomo, Ayub Khan-Diny Juliette Motamed.

With details of the plot still to be known, what we interpret from the trailer released in previous days, is the following: Mike Lane (Tatum) is broke after a failed business deal, so he is working as a bartender. During one of his jobs, he meets a beautiful and wealthy socialite (Hayek) who, after a very personal demonstration, encourages him to take his stage production across the pond to London.

Between the first movie, Magic Mikelaunched in 2012, and the second, Magic Mike XXL Released in 2015, the series’ global box office is worth nearly $300 million. The commercial success gave way to a staging in 2017, Magic Mike Live, produced by Tatum, which debuted in Las Vegas, and subsequently visited places like London, Berlin and Australia. In April 2022, the staging went on tour in the United States.

Warner Bros. will release Magic Mike’s Last Dance in theaters February 10, 2023.
