Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group continue to prepare Scream 7the next installment of the popular slasher franchise Screamwhich remains underway after production twists and turns, creative adjustments and cast changes.

The seventh installment will feature the return of Neve Campbellwho returns to the franchise reprising his iconic role as Sidney Prescott, after having been absent from Scream VI (2023) due to a salary dispute. Behind the lens it will be the turn of Kevin Williamsoncreator of the saga and screenwriter of the original installment, and the sequels Scream 2, Scream 4.

The participation of both Campbell and Williamson are reason enough for fans of the original installments to be curious and go to movie theaters when Scream 7 be released on February 27, 2026.

Y Matthew Lillardone of the original members of Scream (1996), fully trusts Williamson's abilities.

In an interview with GamesRadar, Lillard spoke about the current state of the franchise, saying:

I think he's in a good moment. I think that [el que la película] being back in the hands of Kevin Williamson is great. I love what [Tyler Gillett y Matt Bettinelli-Olpin] they were doing before. I have nothing against them. In fact, I thought they were going down a really exciting path.”

The actor also believes that the most recent installment, Scream 6turned violent:

“I thought the movie became too violent. I think [Scream] 6 was like… I don't think Ghostface needs a shotgun. I think the movies are… everything is trying to repeat what we did in the first movie in many ways. Like a manic monologue at the end. It's really difficult to do. I hope Kevin takes it in a completely new, brave and exciting direction so we can find different colors and different joys.”

Williamson was involved in Scream 5 y Scream 6 as executive producer. He took the reins as director of Scream 7 following the departure of Christopher Landon in December 2023. Scream 7 will mark his debut as director of a film in the franchise Scream.

Lillard played Stu Macher in Scream by Wes Craven, being along with Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich), the original Ghostface. During the final sequence, both Stu and Billy died.

However, in an appearance by Lillard on The Drew Barrymore Show, he confirmed that Stu Macher is alive, and that he would “love” to play him again in a future installment.
