the filmmaker Todd Haynesknown for directing feature films such as Carol, Velvet Goldmine, Far from Heaven, y Dark Watersamong others, returns this 2023 with the romance drama May Decemberwhich stars the Oscar winners, Julianne Moore y Natalie Portman.

It is precisely the protagonists that we see in the first official image of the film that is preparing to celebrate its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival as an Official Selection in competition this May on La Croisette.

  • The film marks a new collaboration between Haynes and Moore, who starred in the filmmaker’s aforementioned film, Far from Heaven.

With a little more detail, we share that the plot follows Moore and Charles Melton (Riverdale, American Horror Stories) playing a married couple whose 20-year relationship inspired a national tabloid obsession in their counterpart. Now preparing to send his adult children off to college, as Melton comes to terms with empty nesting in his mid-30s, an actress (Portman) joins the family to study them for an upcoming film in which he will play to Moore. The pair buckle under the pressure as Portman digs as deep as she can for an honest performance.

The rest of the cast is made up of Piper Curda (The Wretched, Legacies), Elizabeth Yu (Avatar: The Last Airbender, Year One), y Gabriel Chunggiving life to the children of Moore and Melton.

The script was carried out by Samy Burch (short film Crown Prince), who developed the story with Alex Mechanik.

Grant S. Johnson and Tyler W. Konney produced and financed the project, with Portman, Sophie Mas, Christine Vachon, Pamela Koffler, Jessica Elbaum, and Will Ferrell serving as producers.
